Folliculitis
Folliculitis is inflammation of one or more hair follicles. The condition may occur anywhere on the skin. Most carbuncles and furuncles and other cases of folliculitis develop from Staphylococcus aureus, this is a bit different from the regular staphylococcus found on the skin - mostly within the nostrils. This S. aureus is a "big name" among all the serious medical conditions, as most of the important skin infections are caused by it.
Folliculitis starts when hair follicles are damaged by friction from clothing, blockage of the follicle, or shaving. In most cases of folliculitis, the damaged follicles are then infected with the bacteria Staphylococcus.
