Am I wrong
asked by bigboy1257 on 6 January 2008 4:10
I'm gay and I have was raised to view that as bad. I have told a few people because I thought I would feel better but it seems like it only made things worse. One of the people I told went and told the whole world. I lost friends over it and had to quit a job. I don't know what to do. I try to cover it up and wish I wasn't. Am I wrong for feeling this way? Can anyone tell me what to do?

Perhaps you told the wrong people? Or perhaps it's time to make new and more accepting friends? I was also raised to believe that anything other than heterosexual relationships was "wrong," but I disagree. You are never wrong to feel the way that you feel. It's part of who you are. People who make you feel bad for simply "being you" aren't worth your time~
No you're not wrong. You can't control or change the fact that you are gay. If people around you are not cool with this, then they don't deserve to be your friend.
I suggest you try to meet some gay people and talk about your experience with them. You may be able to learn how to deal with "coming out the closet" better.
