Are there support groups, online or in person that deal with people who have problems retaining or getting into relationships?

I am 42, almost 43 and have never been in a functional relationship. Everytime I get into a relationship with someone that I think I'm in love with, it doesn't work out and I'm left feeling hopeless. I know there are way more important issues to deal with, however, I can't find a way to get through the day anymore. Is there any help out there for someone like myself?

I have the exact same problem. I don't know what I'm doing wrong in relationships, all I know is I can't keep them. Being left alone hurts every time.

I really thought that I was alone with this problem.I have been with a guy since the age of 13,always jumping from one relationship to another.Them always leaving for another woman.Thought I wasn't good enough, pretty enough, thin enough, smart enough, etc.Let me know what works for you as my therapist says that I need to love myself first, before I get into another relationship.

Dear mkc:

Although I have never been in a functional relationship myself, I have learned that I must be whole if I expect to attract a whole partner. If I am sick, of course it stands to reason that I will attract a similarly sick partner. So, the answer to the problem is again, stop focusing on others and relationships as a whole, and focus instead on getting well ourselves. Until we find healing and self-love, we will continue to attract the kinds of people that aren't good for us. Take care of the "man in the mirror" and all else will fall into place as it should. Just my .02 cents, jenash42
