Depression and mood stabilizers.

asked by Kuraino on 25 May 2008 20:16

Has anyone with depression (not bipolar) taken mood stabilizers to help them manage their depression. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to take one of these soons in addition to my anti-depressant (Cymbalta). Since I have been doing badly recently, my psychiatrist raised my dose on Cymbalta but I reacted badly. So now she wants to supplement a lower dose of Cymbalta with a mood stabilizer.

I am pretty freaked out to have to take one of these (the most famous is of course Lithium). I was wondering if any other people with severe depression have taken a mood stabilizer with/without an anti-depressant and how you did with it.

I did great with Lamictal, a stabilizer and with Lexipro, an antidepressant. I would never even think of going off either. I have a whole new life, a great life now.
