Has anyone every had a terrible psych ward or "involuntary hold" experiance?

As in, you were forced into it either with or without your consent, and the people at the facility only made your preexisting condition or current state worse?

Oh, yeah. My mother had me hauled off to a mental hospital and like Ophelia said, they told me it was my fault for everything. They didn't give me a choice about the medicine and said was not able to make decisions my myself. I thought if I didn't take it, they'd force me to, but after I spoke with a lawyer(a.k.a.- my father), he said they couldn't make me, so I refused medication and for doing so, my nurse told me I was full of crap and made me sit in a little desk all day long..

After I was raped in the military, I was sent to the psych ward. The doctors and nurses (all military) were constantly telling me that it was my fault. That I had "brought it on myself". It wasn't helpful at all. Especially with everyone in my command making the same claim trying to cover their own backsides because it happened on their watch.
My stepfather was sexually abusive and I tried to kill myself because of it. When I got put in the hospital, I was thrown up on by my roommate who was detoxing and my stepfather visited me three to six times a day. I just wanted it to all go away. I asked not to have any visitors and they still let him in.
