Is it ok?

You know I really dont know why I do this but I always seem to. Some of the people I know at work asked me if I want to go out with them to their familys home for Christmas and I dont really want to go. I live far away from home and in a retail store so we work right up until the 24th so on the 25th Im sure Ill just want to pass out and rest along with the things I love like a good anime or game to destress, is this way of thinking wrong tho? I mean should I try to be around people more, am I become a recluse of some sort? I think I would just feel out of place at someone elses familys home and the person who invited me just wants me there to keep HER company, like I cant have a good time without her or something you know. I dont really enjoy going out to parties much and would much rather spend a quiet evening with a book or good friend than in a group of ppl. Problem is I dont have any "good friends" up here that share my likes and dislikes so I feel really out of place most of the time and always have to entertain everyone and keep them happy, sometimes at the expense of my happiness.

I guess what I want to know is, is it ok not to want to get out of my home or should I try and get out more even though I cant stand the vain and money obsessed people that seem to thrive in this town?

Its okay, its perfectly fine to not want to celebrate any holidays... I mean, you and I should both socialize a LITTLE more, but dont over do it. I think you should find ONE group or thing you are interested in (like I am going to join a gym and take a martial arts class) to socialize a little more, but dont break your back or force yourself to do something you dont like... I mean, I am ONLY suggesting a hobby so you can make a friend or two... everyone should have friends that live nearby, if you join a group with ppl who share your interests,or a group in a town outside of you town, you'll probably find ppl not as vain or money obsessed.
