Other than the obvious, is there another reason a man gets a vasectomy?
asked by Ketherene on 10 June 2008 23:30
I'm trying to understand the thought process of a friends boyfriend. Her tubes have been tied for nigh on 20, but he just had a vasectomy...even though she is against it. He keeps telling her not to take it personally, it was done so that HE would feel better, and that it had nothing to do with getting anymore women pregnant. She can NOT understand this concept. Please assist me in understanding this. Is it true that a man would have a vasectomy for HIS state of mind, even knowing full well his girlfriend can not get pregnant...??? thank you. Keth.

Thank you very much. Needless to say, in my quest for an answer (and I'm the woman in the relationship) he for what reason I don't know, was upset about my quest, and broke up with me. Which is fine. none of it makes sense, and with his record of cheating on me.... I guess I should know the answer anyway....alas.... it doesn't matter now anyway. Thank you for the time you've taken to answer. I truely appreciate it.
Well, besides the fact that I'm against contraception, I guess I can't help but think that he doesn't want to get any OTHER woman pregnant. For whatever reason, it makes me think like he's in other relationships besides the one with your friend.
But who knows?... a guy's mind is a pretty scary thing to try to comprehend. Hopefully, it really was just for peace of mind, with nothing shady behind it.
