suicide

asked by neener2007 on 14 October 2007 22:18

How come suicide isn't in the Bible? I've looked in my trying to see what God thinks about it, and it's not there. So many people say that it's the "unforgivable sin" but why? don't you think God knows how you feel? Don't you think he'll understand? I know when I've attempted before, I asked forgivness. I think people think about it ALOT before they actually try. I have faith, but sometimes it's still really hard. I fight EVERYDAY not to try again. Somebody please respond.

Suicide was mentioned 7 times in the Bible, though it was never mentioned as the "unforgivable sin". I think that's a catholic invention.

When I think about God, I think about the compassion that Jesus had for humans. Jesus never condemned anyone who is struggling through life and is suffering. The only people that Jesus directly condems are religious leaders who's out condeming everyone else.

That said, God wants us to live because life is his gift to us. I hope you never try taking your life again.

I think it's implied in the part of not doing anything harmful to your body.
