why do you get hooked on drugs so easily?

i used to do all kinds of drugs and alcohol all the time and it was easy to get hooked on them but once i was on them it took so long to get off of them.

they can be phycicaly addictive but the real reason drugs offer an easy buffer to the harsh realities of life but they dont teach you how to deal with them so the longer you do them the more dependent become.
The big problem, according to my social studies teacher, is that using drugs are treated as crime instead of a health issue. Most drugs and alcohol creates physical dependency, but if our society treated these physical dependency like how we treat diabetes, then it's much easier to overcome the addiction or not be addicted at all.
