Issues Annda is Interested In
- Cancer - Colon - I was diagnosed with Stage III colon cancer in May. All done with radiation and chemo. Just waiting on surgery in September. Four months of chemo after that, then I'll be a new woman!
- Depression - Divorce...cancer...it all adds up! I was (still am maybe?) depressed until my radiation doctor put me on Zoloft. Good stuff!
- Diet and Weight Maintenance - I was on a work-out kick before I was diagnosed with cancer. I was starting to lose weight. Then my oncologists gave me permission to eat what I want, when I want, and no losing weight during treatment! =)
- Emotional Abuse - I think maybe I was/still am going through this, although I don't want to air too much of my dirty laundry.
- Low Self Esteem - I have struggled with low self esteem most of my adult life. I am able to hide it easily behind my smile and personality, so most people would be shocked.
- Parenting - Elementary and Middle School Years - My baby just started kindergarten this year!
- Sensitive Teeth - My teeth have just recently become very sensitive on one side. I'm not sure if it's from the chemo, or if something else is going on. Dentist appointment is scheduled!
- Single Parenting - I am a single parent of a five year old.
- Smoking - I'm happy to say I quit smoking nine months ago! I thought I would add this to my Issue List to help others battle the urge.
- Stress - There's plenty of it!
- Work/Family Balance - Trying to work full-time and balance my family life can sometimes be very difficult.
- Hysterectomy - I had a full hysterectomy during surgery to remove a tumor from my colon. So far all is well. Thank God for Estrogen patches!
Annda's Story
I was born and raised in Small-town, Louisiana. I decided I hated the southern way of life, and moved to Indiana in 2000. Now I miss the southern way of life and get homesick quite frequently! Darn the Yankees! ;) I don't like southern accents, and I despise people who tell me they can hear one in me. The "folks" back home, see, they think I have a northern accent. Weird, "ain't" it?
My name is pronounced just like it looks, Ann-duh. It's not Amanda, or Andrea, or even Angela. It's just plain and simple Annda.
I have a daughter, Kamryn, who just turned five. She'll be starting kindergarten this year, which makes me really sad. She and I just sort of fly by the seat of our pants these days. We're usually up for going anywhere or doing anything.
I love sticky kid kisses, and pictures colored of green people with purple arms and blue hair. Those are true works of art and are among my most prized possessions. One of my favorite feelings is cuddling with Kamryn, or sitting in the chair together reading, telling stories, making up stories, or even napping.
I enjoy cooking; however I enjoy someone else's cooking even more. I am currently on a work-out kick, and try to work out at least two times a week. Ok, ok, I'll admit it, I haven't been in several (five) months, but I'm going to get back into it Monday! I enjoy my work, and I believe I'm pretty good at it. I like traveling and long road trips, and now that the kids are older, it's even more enjoyable (except when they are arguing, or hungry, or have to pee, and everything else kids do to be pains in the rear on a road trip!) I love to go to the casino; however I usually end up losing. I worked at a casino once in Louisiana, and it was my very most favorite job!
I love to laugh and joke and cut up. I guess I have a witty sense of humor. I'm very cynical and skeptical at times of people, but that comes along with the job. I love to sing, even though I sing badly. And if I don't know the words, I just make them up! I am musically challenged in that I don't know names of artists and songs, and who sings what, and I've been known to mix up two or three songs into one, but I can sure crack down on some tunes!
I love slushy pop straight from the freezer, and frozen Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Andes chocolate mints. My favorite way to eat solid chocolate is to let it melt in my mouth, not chewing.
I am a word/logic/variety puzzle nerd, with the daily Jumble's in the newspaper being my favorite. I get quite perturbed when people get "their/there" and "your/you're" mixed up, and all of the other common writing mistakes. I also can't stand it when people say something is "addicting," and there's no such word as "irregardless." It's true, look it up on dictionary.com!
I recently quit smoking. I am appalled at how badly I used to smell, how much money I spent (on cigarettes and spray that didn't work!), and how ugly my teeth were. The real reason I decided to quit was because Kamryn took up smoking sucker sticks and Cheetos. November 6th was my quit date, and thank Heaven for Zyban, as it wasn't near as hard. Oh, I still had my bouts of frustration, but I overcame the urge! I still don't have any money, but at least I don't stink. By the way, Kamryn quit smoking too.
And that just about sums me up in a nutshell.

I have some great news to share! The surgery went very well. I was in the hospital for six days. I was a CCU patient for three days afterwards, then they switched me in the computer to a "regular" patient, but I still got the VIP treatment in CCU. The regular floor was too busy, so they let me stay there the whole time. I was so happy. The CCU nurses at W...
